Born in the vineyard “Il Mulino” at 260 metres a.s.l., planted in 1976 with only Cabernet Sauvignon. Its name comes from the famous saying “Nemo propheta in patria” which in those years – the first harvest was in 1982 – was well-suited to the avant-garde and pioneristic spirit of the company. After the vinification in steel, it ages for 18 months in oak barriques and ages another year in glass

Hints of bell pepper in the aroma give way to cherry, plum, cedar, iron and coffee flavors in this tightly wound red. Complex, but needs time for all the facets to emerge. Best from 2021 through 2035. 1,000 cases made, 100 cases imported.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Nemo Vigna Il Mulino is a powerful, burly wine. Black cherry, game, smoke, grilled herbs, worn-in leather licorice, tobacco and incense all run through the 2015, conveying a real sense of rustic intensity. It will be interesting to see if the 2015 gains finesse and/or complexity with time in bottle. Today, it is decidedly brooding, virile and rough around the edges.
