Roserock Zephirine Pinot Noir 2017
|Region||United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley|
Zéphirine has a deep, rosewood color. On the nose, there is clear energy, and layers upon layers of violets, delicate roses, small berries and brush. On the palate, there is a wealth of blue and black fruit flavors balanced by excellent structure and fine tannins. As a whole, Zéphirine exudes complexity and refinement, and leads to a very long, satisfying finish. It will be lovely to experience as it ages over the next 8-10 years or more.
Limpid ruby-red. Highly perfumed, mineral- and spice-accented red fruit liqueur, incense and potpourri scents show fine definition and assertive lift. Appealingly sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering vibrant raspberry, cherry, red currant and blood orange flavors that deepen and take on spicecake and floral pastille nuances on the back half. Shows outstanding focus and solid thrust on a long, floral-tinged finish shaped by subtle, polished tannins.
This barrel selection, a so-called "reference expression of the site", is named for a species of climbing rose. As a reference point for the site and the AVA it works quite well, with firm black-cherry fruit at the core, and highlights of coffee and earth in the polished tannins.
Adult Signature is required for every shipment.
