Stags' Leap Winery Audentia Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
On one of California’s earliest wine estates, a unique terroir and ideal microclimate support a classical standard of viticulture, land use, and winemaking that is as relevant today as it was over a century ago. An intimate valley within the greater Napa Valley, Stags’ Leap is a place of natural beauty, storied buildings and gardens, a lively history, and a reputation for elegant wines showing finesse and intensity.

Wine AdvocateThe prodigious 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Audentia Estate (only 300 cases produced) takes its name from the Latin "sed contra audentior ito," which means "always push harder." A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Petite Sirah (I don't think I've ever before seen this blend in Napa Valley), this blockbuster boasts an opaque purple color, layers and layers of blackberries, cassis, incense and camphor-infused fruit, a full-bodied, powerful, muscular mouthfeel and a long finish with its aging in 75% new French oak well-disguised by the wine's extravagant richness and power. The one downside to the 2010 Audentia is that it needs 5-10 years of bottle age, after which it should age for 35-50+ years. It is a connoisseur's choice for sure.
