Chimney Rock Elevage 2013
Vinous 90 points - The 2012 Red Blend Elevage holds considerable appeal. A dark beguiling beauty, the 2013 is pliant, explosive and intense from start to finish. Remarkably light on its feet for such and opulent wine, the 2012 impresses for its depth and pure resonance. 90-93 Points.Antonio Galloni, December/2014
Chimney Rock’s proprietarily-named red wine blend is Elevage. Crafted from grapes grown across our 37 distinctive vineyard blocks, this wine takes advantage of four different red varieties that capture the essence of our estate. While the first vintage was released in 1990, we remain deeply committed to, and passionately fond of, this blend comprised of Bordeaux varietals. Elevage, an evocative melange of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, serves as an artistic portrait of the vintage at the Chimney Rock estate. Experience this blend that evokes finesse and complexity, depth and dimension, and truly highlights the singular nature of the Stags Leap District.

Wine EnthusiastThis is an austere, elegant study in power and grace, blending 53% Merlot with 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Substantial and tannin-defined as many of its brethren of this vintage, it shows cedar, pencil shavings and a touch of tobacco, more savory than fruit-driven. Drink now through 2023.
Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Proprietary Red Blend Elevage, a blend of 53.3% Merlot, 33.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, comes in at 14.8% natural alcohol. Deep ruby/purple, beautiful fruit and an elegant style that seems to serve as an impressive crossover between a traditional Bordeaux and the riper Napa Valley style. The wine has soft tannin, burgeoning complexity and is impressive. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
