This wine is adorned with a beautiful intense color. The nose is open and complex: notes of spices and black fruits. The palate has fine and elegant tannins. Au Bon Climat Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2017Strawberries and blackberries aromas slowly rise out of the glass. Overtime, more of the anise and clove will mix with these other aromas. Currently, the wine is young with mouth filling intensity and suppleness. Complexity will increase as the wine ages, but this wine should stay "fresh" for 6 or 7 years. Like all Au Bon Climat wines, this is a food wine. In its youth, match this wine with lamb or dried meats. After a few years, as the flavors coalesce, it will pair better with salmon or mild red sauce with pasta. We have enjoyed this wine with many food choices from spicy Indian dishes to all-American sandwiches, and the wine worked well with most anything. The possible food pairings are almost endless.

Gerard Bertrand Vin Duex Naturel Banyuls 2014A ruby-red colour with shimmering hints of violet. On the nose, it reveals aromas of very ripe red and black fruit. On the palate, the wine is full and well-balanced with jammy aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, backed by distinctive woody notes.

Domaine Besson Givry Les Grands Prétans 2017Wine Information: • Fermentation is all done with indigenous yeasts after a brief 3-5 day cold maceration • Aging 12 months in a combination of large 500L and traditional 228L barriques – 50% new Winery Information: Xavier Besson holds 7 hectares of vines in the appellation of Givry, having inherited the estate in 1989 from his parents. Most of the vines are in the immediate area around the domaine (or chateau, really) with ‘Les Grands Prétans’ vineyard basically their backyard. The domaine is still quite small at 7 hectares and all the work is done by hand always with an aim for low yields and big, ripe fruit. The vineyards are grown in clay soil, with a deep bedrock of limestone from vines that are 30 years old (average). The fermentation is all done with indigenous yeasts after a brief 3-5 day cold maceration. Aging takes place for 12 months in a combination of large 500L and traditional 228L barriques – 50% new. The combination of old vines, conscientious vineyard work, and reasonable yields, all contribute to the crowd pleasing, balanced wines that Besson produces. Farming from superb vineyards like ‘Les Grands Prétans,’ Besson always provides superb Burgundy VALUE: concentrated and densely expressive with brilliant perfume, heady fruit, and a velvety mouthfeel.
Velenosi Brecciarolo 2016Ruby with garnet red shades. Intense, with remarkable juicy red fruits hints. Floral bouquet of very fresh violets, with dark spices hints. Elegant vanilla notes complete its complex bouquet. Persistent, warm, full-bodied and well-orchestrated, it delivers the same notes to the palate as to the nose. A distinguished and equally charismatic wine.

Altesino Rosso di Montalcino 2018Altesino makes this Rosso di Montalcino entirely from select Sangiovese Grosso grapes sourced from the younger vines in the Altesino, Pianezzine, Macina, and Castelnuovo dell’Abate vineyards. After the fermentation process in stainless steel, the wine ages in large barrels of varied maturity for six to eight months followed by three months in bottle. The final wine is a perfect and accessible introduction to the terroir of Montalcino.
Humberto Canale Estate Pinot Noir 2017Tasting notes- This wine has an attractive garnet colour. On the nose there are notes of spice and candied fruit with nuances of fresh red berries such as strawberries and cherries. Its ageing in oak is emphasised with a smoky vanilla aroma. In the mouth, it is delicate in body, with soft tannins and ripe red fruit flavour and a long persistent finish.
Parcel 41 Merlot 2016The Parcel 41 Merlot shines ruby red in the glass, with shimmering purple undertones. The nose is dark and alluring, with aromas of black currant, saddle leather, and milk chocolate, with a subtle and delicate floral note. The mouth is soft and substantial, with round, mouth-filling tannins layering smoothly with the densely packed flavors of chocolate-covered cherries, spicy black plum, and smoky espresso. Gundlach Bundschu Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016Continuing a streak of great Sonoma vintages-thanks, Mother Nature!-the 2016 Pinot Noir has some of the delicious fruit and concentration of its '14 and '15 predecessors, with the more pronounced earthy character of '13. Red cherries and dried cranberries spiced with vanilla ride an underlying earthiness out of the glass. On the palate, the silky texture is framed by firm acidity and a touch of tannin, carrying complex flavors of more cranberries, cherries, earth, and cocoa through a long finish.
