A bright lemon yellow coloured wine with lime tinged rim; bouquet leaps from the glass with intense ripe Hanepoot grapes, pineapple, lemon rind, litchi and winter melon intermingled with hints of jasmine, honey suckle and faint spicy notes. A lusciously sweet, mouth-watering palate of crammed full of fresh Sultana, honey, litchi, melon, fig leaf, lemon and lime marmalade undercurrents, all buoyed by zippy acidity and lingering hints of citrus rind and subtle minerality.
Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve 2007Winemaker Notes #8 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2010 Flaccianello combines all the wild and old-world characteristics of the Sangiovese grape with the modern vinification techniques of what may be the top winemaking house in Tuscany today. The wine is like a taming and training of a beautiful black mustang stallion that has spent just enough time in the wild to retain its fiery disposition. It opens up with brambly notes of berries and currants, cloves, lavender, violets and a hint of bittersweet chocolate. I wonder at the grace of the wine as I delight in the first sip that is supple and cool on the mouth but full of warm flavors that light up the palate with bright notes of cherries and strawberries, tempered with touches of earthy leather and cherry-nut chutney. The wine crashes into the mid-palate on a wave of currants, blackberries, and more, riper straw-berries as it balances itself at the same time on pure tannins and pinch or two of new, vanilla oak. The finish…oh the finish…Well made Sangiovese never disappoints and the Flaccianello rolls on and on seemingly forever. Finally it fades with light herbal notes…a hint of mint…a dash of licorice basil…then it's gone like a shooting star winking out in the night sky.
Schug Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014This supple and generous Cabernet Sauvignon blend is crafted in the classic Bordeaux style that Walter Schug pioneered in the 1970's as winemaster of Joseph Phelps Vineyards. A ripe mouthful of currant and cherry flavors is framed by fine tannins and a touch of spicy oak. It has a classic bouquet bursting with berries, cassis and spice. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot are blended in to add depth and elegance, further enhancing the bright berry flavors and lively acidity. Try this wine with hearty stews, wild mushrooms and grilled meats. Though ready to enjoy now, it will develop gracefully with 5 to 7 years of additional cellaring.
Chateau Lilian Ladouys Saint Estephe 2015The 2015 vintage has a very deep garnet color, amplified by superb purple hues. It reveals fresh aromas of peppermint combined with notes of orange peel and cocoa. Mix with the aeration of the fragrances of white flowers, blueberries and light vanilla plum compote. The full-bodied and powerful attack develops on raspberry and cedar notes. The mouth is supported by a texture of chalky tannins, conferred by our clay-limestone soils on which our Merlots flourish wonderfully. It concludes with a fresh and lively finish.

Justin Justification 2016Dark ruby purple core with blue/black secondary hue, a medium rim with thick tears showing slight staining on the glass. Aromatic and complex with ripe red cherry, black currant and a little berry with vanilla, cinnamon and licorice spice, cedar and graphite notes, oak, leather, dried autumn leaves and a minty hint of camphor. Moderate plus to full bodied, dry, with ripe cherry and cassis mixed with baking spice on entry joined by cedar and oak on the mid-palate with complex savory, herbal elements. The finish is long, balanced and clean, with returning red and black fruit and perfectly proportioned, fine, mouth-filling tannins. The 2016 JUSTIFICATION is elegant with a perfect balance of fruit, savory and textural elements making it a versatile food pairing wine. Ceretto Barolo 2015The idea of combining different sensations to create a good balance is the basis of the original concept of Barolo; the more traditional producers have always tried to avoid prioritising the single expression of the vineyard in lieu of the right balance in the glass. And so it is in our classic Barolo, two souls of the appellation coexisting: the more gentle one, whose area is defined by the Tortonian soils of La Morra and Barolo, of which Brunate is an example, and the more austere and masculine one, coming from slopes with typical Helvetian soil, such as those at the base of Gabutti in Serralunga. It's a stylistic choice, that of trying to interpret the taste of the appellation's namesake, which gives us a rich and virile wine, able to be enjoyed young or after its evolution, for the passionate.

Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017Cocoa, raspberry jam, and dried fig highlight a bright, fresh nose that quickly settles into a steady parade of baking spices, black pepper, and earth. Deceptively soft initially, the wine builds with its viscosity and concentration amidst layers of ripe plum, very fine tannins, and espresso bean. A lively ginger note adds a touch of spice, bolstered by dried cherry, tobacco, and fresh bright cranberries. The finish is laser-focused, mineral-driven and persistent, not unexpected in young Cabernet. Delicious now, it will add breadth and polish with time in glass.
