Mongrana is the quintessential expression of the colors, sights and sounds of the Maremma region: fruity and intense, fresh and embracing, the wine takes its name - and its character - from that of the noble family of knights depicted by the Italian Renaissance poet Ludovico Ariosto in his epic masterpiece Orlando Furioso ("Mad Orlando").
Mongrana is produced without using any animal products or byproducts. It is therefore suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

A fresh, cherry- and blackberry-flavored red, with accents of graphite and earth. Finishes with a hint of bell pepper and lightly astringent tannins. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2026. 7,250 cases made, 3,373 cases imported.

The 2020 Mongrana is a soft, supple Maremma red to drink now and over the next few years, while the red cherry/plum fruit remains vibrant. Mongrana is certainly a pleasant, affordable quaffer, but not more. It's hard to see what the point is for Querciabella to even bother making a wine like this.
