Frey Vineyards Organic Sangiovese 2007

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Sangiovese is a delicious, fruity Italian wine, and one of the favorites of winemaker Paul Frey. The name Sangiovese translates as "blood of Jove." Jove is another name for the Roman god Jupiter. Researchers believe the grape has been cultivated since ancient Roman times. It is not commonly sold as a stand-alone varietal, though the wine is the main component of Chianti, the famous Italian wine usually comprised of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo, and 15% Trebbiano. Our vineyards' location in Redwood Valley has a similar Mediterranean climate to the Tuscany region, which makes it the perfect spot to grow quality Sangiovese grapes in California. Sangiovese has a wide range of fruity flavors with a medium body and elegant finish. This is the perfect food pairing wine, as it goes well with foods appropriate for both red and white wines. We recommend it with vegetarian pizza, a roast chicken, or winter squash bisque.
