Deep red with purple hue.Nose of dark chocolate and tobacco notes on opening. When oxygenated, subtle aromas of red fruit (raspberry) and black berry appear, accompanied by a hint of pepper. A rich and complex scent that oscillates between these different aromas. Palate is smooth and rich, flavours of stewed red fruit and spices, velvety texture provided by soft and deep tannins. The warmer finish is balanced by notes of pralin and black pepper. A powerful and savory mouthfeel. Pair with deer ribs with shallot confit, beef carpaccio and walnuts, roasted filet mignon.

The 2019 La Croix du Roy is a ripe style that has plum and dried fruit flavors. It's a little southern Rhone-like in its richness with dried fruit flavors and dark chocolate. For those who like their Pinots ripe, this will give much pleasure. There's a lot of wine here for the price, with substance and richness of tannin.
