A silky yet rich and persistent offering, with leading red tea notes, mulled cherry and raspberry fruit at the core and a long, subtle mineral edge curling around the perfumed finish. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Muscardin, Counoise and Mourvedre. Drink now through 2032. 800 cases imported.

Saturated ruby. Ripe, spice- and smoke-accented aromas of black raspberry, cherry cola and garrigue on the assertively perfumed nose. Juicy red and dark berry flavors are braced by a spine of smoky minerality and pick up licorice and cured meat nuances with aeration. Concentrated but lively, with no rough edges. A floral quality emerges on the persistent finish, which features even tannins that lend shape and gentle grip.

The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Nalys Saintes Pierres De Nalys showed well, with a pretty, silky, elegant style as well as notes of framboise, strawberries, and peppery herbs. It's more up-front and mid-weight than I remember from barrel, but it's still a very pretty, elegant red that does well in the vintage.
