Seductive from the first tilt of the class, the 2021 Etna Rosso slowly opens to reveal dried strawberries, lavender, incense and spice. This is luxuriously round and soothing, with ripe red and blue fruits that easily flow across the palate. The 2021 finishes long and potent but only lightly structured. Candid citrus and licorice notes slowly fade. It's a lovely introduction to Etna and the Pietradolce house style.

The iron and mineral rich notes of soil, bricks and blood at first on the nose are given a fruity tang from bing cherries and strawberries that then continue on the palate, with some added spicy notes of black peppercorns and red chili flakes. An earthiness follows all the way through, balanced by spirited acid.

A well-balanced red, lightly chewy and fresh, offering a juicy range of ripe black cherry and mineral elements, with hints of red licorice, dried flowers and milled white pepper. Drink now through 2029. 2,500 cases made, 1,335 cases imported.
