Intense ruby red, tending to garnet. Mediterranean notes, complex, blueberry and ripe-blackberry aromas, spices tending sweet, tobacco and chocolate. Warm, soft, sweet tannins of rare intensity. It matches well structured dishes, such as roasted and grilled meat, fish, game and cheese.

This red is a little old-school with its high alcohol and light cherry-liqueur character, but I like the earthy, dried-fruit notes. The full-bodied palate, with its soft, sweeping tannins, doesn’t have any rough edges, while the finish ties up attractive, redcurrant flavors in swathes of oily alcohol. Drink now.
