Loukatos Muscat of Patras
Wine EnthusiastOrange peel, spice and lemon aromas start this Muscat out with spirit. On the palate, vanilla, toasted nut and lemon/orange flavors create a very pretty and balanced white. The wine finishes clean and crisp. An elegant choice that reflects the refined minerality for which Greece is known.
Wine AdvocateThe NV MUSCAT OF PATRAS is, like its sibling, the Mavrodaphne reviewed this issue, another nice dessert wine value from Loukatos. Honeyed and delicious, this Beaumes de Venise styled Muscat is focused, with a hint of brandy underneath. It drinks beautifully, a little more intense than the Mavrodaphne and equally tasty. This style of wine tends to hold well, although this is not necessarily the most ageworthy version. Showing quite well the next day, it should still hold decently, but there is not much reason to hold it considering how delightful it is right now. Drink it chilled, but not so cold it is dull. Cellar temperature should be good. Note: The particular bottling reviewed has a blue strip under the capsule with a "/10." Drink now-2020.
