Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2015
|Brand||Casas del Bosque|
Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Sauvignon Blanc Gran Reserva is slightly riper than the Reserva, with most of the grapes coming from granitic slopes. Her,e the majority of the wine was barrel fermented with only around 10% fermented in stainless steel at very low temperatures. This Gran Reserva is more herbaceous than the Reserva with strong pea, tomato leaves and asparagus aromas. The palate is soft with moderate acidity, pungent flavors and a slightly austere finish, which is welcomed. There is no trace of oak whatsoever. 34,000 bottles.
Wine EnthusiastA fierce nose displays strong notes of pyrazines, making this more love-it-or-leave-it than mainstream. Chunky on the palate, with a bit of flabby weight, it tastes of briny citrus, jalapeño and bell pepper. This is within the norms for Chilean SB, but it might be too green and bitter for some palates.
Wine SpectatorThe lemongrass, citrus and grapefruit flavors are very crisp and minerally in this white. Dried green herbal notes show on the finish.
