Migliarina Chenin Blanc 2015
About the wine: Made from grapes grown on hillsides in Elgin and
Stellenbosch in the Cape wine-growing area of South Africa. The grapes were
hand harvested and whole bunch pressed, then cold settled and racked into a
steel tank where the must was cold fermented. After fermentation, the wine
stayed on its fine lees for 9 months in tank. A small portion of the wine was
aged in barrel to add complexity to the flavors. The wine had the malolactic
fermentation blocked in order to improve freshness and accent the primary
Aroma: Citrus and peach top notes with something waxy and honeyed
Taste: This wine has roundness and depth that makes it a food wine with
plenty of natural acid and a long finish. The wine is more about texture than
Food pairing: Perfect with fish, white meat dishes, light pasta dishes, risottos,
and softer cheeses. Also very pleasant drunk on its own.
