Ernesto Catena Tahuan Malbec 2013
The Tahuan Malbec opens to not quite a full purple color. On the nose the wine offers lots of toasty aromas, but then, after only a few minutes, the aromas of fresh and juicy red fruits -such as strawberry and cherry- take center stage. There are also intriguing hints of wild flowers and violets. It is a very well balanced wine in the mouth, delivering sweet, yet firm tannins, and with a soft and pleasant taste where all kinds of fruits freely express themselves.
VinousBright red-ruby. Reticent aromas of blackberry and menthol come across as a bit cooler than those of the Cabernet. Then lusher and sweeter in the mouth, offering good breadth and palate presence to the flavors of dark berries, dried flowers and spices. Finishes with a ripe dusting of tannins and sneaky persistence. A very good value thanks to the extra detail of the 2013 vintage.
Wine SpectatorA brambly red, with dried red plum and berry flavors that are firm and savory. Notes of dried herb and white pepper on the finish. Drink now. 11,000 cases imported.
