Antinori Cervaro della Sala 2014
Wine Spectator 91 points - Bright and well-knit, offering a streak of smoky minerality and accents of oak spice and chopped hazelnut, deftly layered with racy acidity and flavors of ripe pear, apricot, fresh hay and lemon parfait. Chardonnay with Grechetto. Drink now through 2025.
James Suckling"This is the full treatment white from Italy and it always delivers. Aromas of cooked apple, cream, hints of toasted oak and peach. Full body, bright acidity, with tangy fresh fruit. Hints of yogurt and wood. Complex and truly great. Love the backbone of acidity that gives lovely form." 03/16
Wine Advocate The 2013 Cervaro della Sala is mostly Chardonnay (80%) blended with an Umbrian native grape, Grechetto. The results are glorious, and this vintage represents slight tweaks to the winemaking style in favor of more finesse and elegance. Back in 2009, Cervaro della Sala was executed in a heavier style. The aging potential of this celebrated white wine has been proven and demonstrated with tasting after tasting. This vintage is balanced and fresh with brimstone, stone fruit and creamy peach. With time, it will show more mineral nuances and additional aging sophistication.
Wine SpectatorAn elegant, medium-bodied white, with oak spice and vanilla accents to the baked pineapple, almond skin and lime blossom notes. Bright and well-knit, this offers rich flavor without excessive weight. Chardonnay with Grechetto. Drink now through 2024. 2,200 cases imported.
