Château-Coutet Barsac 2006 375ml

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Classified as first growth in 1855, Chateau Coutet accomplishes its mission of excellence. It has the freshness and fines that one comes to expect from the great wines of Bordeaux. Its elegant liveliness and the sensuality of its aromas classify it among the best Sauternes. You will appreciate the perfect harmony of its bouquet and the roasted hints of Botrytis which gave Coutet, as the wine ages, the delicacy of an unrivalled bouquet. When young, the wine hints of the fine aromas of orange blossoms, citrus fruit, honey and vanilla. As the wine ages, it develops depth and warmth. A spiciness is also apparent, mingled with hints of exotic flowers and candied citrus.

Wine EnthusiastIt is the poise, the elegance of Coutet that shows so well in this delicious wine. It is ripe, with layers of apricot and peach, lifted with spice and an over-arching sweet acidity that gives the wine a wonderful, heart-stopping lift.

Wine SpectatorAlmost as excellent as the 2003. There's intense botrytis spice on the nose, with lemon peel and dried pineapple. Full-bodied, superspicy and intense. Extremely racy. A beautiful wine. Best after 2014.

Wine AdvocateLight to medium gold with a greenish hue, this wine exhibits wonderfully pure notes of wood spice such as vanillin, honeyed citrus, a hint of under-ripe peach, and touches of creme brulee and marmalade. With great acidity and finesse, this is a medium-bodied, impressively endowed, but generally very racy, restrained style of wine that should age beautifully for 25 or more years. It is not the sweetest, and by no means the biggest wine of 2006, but it has nobility tattooed all over it.
