Albe is "Barolo di Barolo", a Barolo blended from vineyards only in the Barolo comune. Fosatti, Coste de Vergne and La Volta all have different southern exposures and add distinct qualities to the wine, they yield a complex and rich Barolo that will age gracefully for another 3 to 5 years, but is a an absolute pleasure to drink now. Tannins are round, aromatics complex, alluring and the fruit is delicious. In fact this is one of our most approachable and open Barolos in the portfolio and one of our best values.

Wine Advocate

The 2007 Barolo Albe is a huge over-achiever in this vintage. Dark cherries, spices, menthol and flowers caress the palate in this deep, plush Barolo. With a little air some of the wine's firmness melts away. The Albe is made in an approachable style meant for near-term drinking. I don't think that will be much of an issue here. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.

Score: 91. —Antonio Galloni, October 2011.

Wine Spectator

An austere 2007, with a tightly knit core of cherry, strawberry and spice flavors. The structure is firm and the alcohol elevated, throwing some heat on the finish. Should settle down with age. Best from 2014 through 2025. 3,800 cases made.

Score: 90. —Bruce Sanderson, April 30, 2012.
