Domaine de la Renjarde

Dark red color with purple highlights. The nose is intense and complex with notes of candied fruits, sweet spices, toast and dark red fruit. The palate is perfectly balanced, with lots of freshness, roundness and complexity. The tannins are quite present in both firm and soft and suggest a nice cellaring potential. The finish is very long with scents of blackberry, black cherry and chocolate.

Wine Spectator

Ripe and polished, with sleek red and black cherry, sweet spice and lilac notes that linger on the well-focused finish. Very solid. Drink now.

Score: 89. —James Molesworth, February 28, 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2009 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Massif d’Uchaux is the wine to buy. There are about 5,000 cases of this blend of 55% Grenache, 22% Syrah and the rest Cinsault and Carignan. It is a seductive, light to medium ruby-hued effort revealing delicious as well as charming, seductive black cherry fruit infused with hints of Provencal herbs and earth. Fresh, lively and silky textured, this delicious 2009 should drink well for 2-3 years.

Score: 88. —Robert Parker, October 2010.
